The image „A Long Journey“ celebrates the arrival of the Inkscape community at its 1.3 milestone, symbolized by a wandering artist walking towards a shining city on an island, in the center of a lake, seen through the curtains of a forest. The central building, in the shape of Inkscape’s 1.3. version number, is still - and will always be - under construction, constantly being improved.

This vibrant master piece has been submitted by Chris Hildenbrand (License: CC-By-SA 4.0) for the About Screen Contest for Inkscape 1.3. The contest’s topic was the 20th anniversary of the Inkscape project in November 2023.
